On June 12, 2015, Chucky Hunter, a former Defensive Lineman for Texas Christian University (TCU) was arrested after being stopped for a traffic infraction. Apparently during that stop, the officer or officers discovered marijuana. Hunter was charged with driving without a license plate, possession of marijuana, possession of tramadol, possession of contraband in the presence of underage children and drug paraphernalia.
Hunter was not selected in the 2015 NFL draft but had been scheduled to attend the Dallas Cowboy‘s training camp as an undrafted free agent. That opportunity is probably gone now due to Hunter’s arrest. Hunter has received all State Honors while on the TCU Football team. Hunter had been instrumental in TCU’s 2014 win over Ole Miss in the Chic-Fil-A Peach Bowl.
Hopefully Hunter understood not to talk to the Police without a Lawyer representing Hunter being present. Many people think that their only chance is to cooperate fully with the police in cementing their own conviction. Our system is actually founded on the opposite concept — that each and every person has the right against self-incrimination. Hunter should have told law enforcement: “I want a Lawyer. If I am not under arrest, please let me go.” Unless the Accused protects his rights, the system cannot do it for him or her. #HarrisonburgSpeedingTicketLawyer
