Harrisonburg Reckless Driving Lawyer: Even Major League Baseball Players like Jason Werth get charged with reckless driving in Virginia. Werth is a star outfielder for the Washington Nationals. In July of 2014 Werth was stopped by a Virginia State Trooper for driving more than 100 miles per hour in a 55 miles per hour zone. Werth was operating his Porsche GT3 RS sports car.
Harrisonburg Reckless Driving Lawyer: Werth tried the case in the Fairfax County General District Court and received a ten (10) day jail sentence. Werth appealed to the Fairfax County Circuit Court. In a plea agreement, Werth received a five (5) day jail sentence on a reckless driving conviction. Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney Ryan Bredemeier proffered to the Court that the Trooper paced Werth driving approximately 105 miles per hour on the on ramp to I-495 leading from Route 193. Werth also received a 30 days license suspension of his Virginia Driver’s License. Werth had no prior driving violations on his Virginia record. The Court also allowed for Werth to serve his jail time on weekends. The Court made this exception to the general policy of consecutive days due to Werth’s situation. Werth had shoulder surgery on January 9, 2015 and is still undergoing rehabilitation during the week.
Harrisonburg Reckless Driving Lawyer: Apparently Major League Baseball management will be not extracting an additional penalty from Werth. In 2014 Werth had a .292 batting percentage and hit 16 home runs and batted 82 runs in. The Washington Nationals signed Werth in 2010 for 126 million dollars paid over seven years.
